Toxic State Records 2011

Pretty sure this band could care less what you or I think of them. I love a lot of things about this record and that is one of the things I love about this record (the impression that they don't care what I think). I love that the screen printed jacket and lyric sheet / poster still feel wet and / or gritty. The record feels like New York City in the early 80s.

I love that their songs sound like they were constructed by a gang of nihilistic end of the world warriors who stumbled upon instruments one day and this recording is what they came up with. I love that it sounds like they just turned everything up, everything is overly distorted. As I learned in 1982, when I first got a guitar and amp, when you turn things all the way up, they take on a life of their own and you do what you can in an attempt to control the sound, but eventually just let it flow. They temper the chaos with some appropriate between song sound bytes. Musically this falls towards another one of my loves, Rudimentary Peni.

I have recently picked up three outstanding records on Sonoma California's Modern Action Records, thanks to recommendations from Cobrakale at My Wife Says I'm An Angry Person blog.

Grand Rapids Michigan strikes again! 8 songs, 17 minutes, ripping punk that slams together the sounds of N.O.T.A., Zero Boys, Briefs and early Vibrators. If you have ever loved the energy of punk, the straight forward approach to power pop and/or early 80s US HC punk, the type with understandable vocals, then there is no reason you should not seek out this record. Seventeen minutes of compelling reasons why punk rock should still exist in 2012. This was recorded in 2010 along with the aid of Gimme Gimme Records. The Amoebas need to release some more records!

This is a five song, one sided 12 inch, clocking in at just around 9 minutes. Just enough to make you anticipate the next step. We will require more recordings. It would be a crime for this to end without the realization of a full discography. So the Neighborhood Brats need to get to it. It has been started. This is instantly timeless California punk. You could have dropped the needle on this record in the late 70s or early 80s or in 2012 and the result would be the same. This kills. Female vocals, furious energy, leather jacket clad, snotty punk rock. I want more!!!

Billed as two guys from the Bodies, one from the Briefs and a guy from Puerto Rico, the Sharp Objects fuse early Posh Boy California sounds like Agent Orange and Red Cross and work just as well as the Cute Lepers as a post Briefs band. Every song is a ripper, reminding me of the first time I heard the Briefs! If you are looking for a surefire way to improve your day, I suggest dropping the needle on this piece of vinyl (comes with a download code)! This could have been the next Briefs album, an instant classic.

Faith "Subject to Change Plus First Demo" LP

When this LP was originally released (minus the demos of course) back in 1983, it had such an impact on me that I played it constantly on my radio shows on WLVR and eventually owned a blue and a pink vinyl copy. I say this, not to prove my record collecting prowess, but to prove another point. That point being how much I love this record. Although I love collecting records, it is a rarity that I have ever owned more than one copy of any record. Agnostic Front's "Victim In Pain" comes to mind as the only other record falling into this category for some reason, besides my close friends bands' records, of which I try to have every version.

Listening to the demo versions of Faith's hardcore classics, that appear in non-demo form on either the original of this LP or the split LP with Void is an exhilarating sensation! The raw, rough, developmental angst of early hardcore comes across perfectly. One of the premier, groundbreaking harDCore bands. Another work of Dischord art.

As Sir Edward George Earle Bulwer-Lytton would say, "It was a dark and stormy night..." The perfect setting for my first show of 2012. The sleet and freezing rain that was in the forecast was not going to keep me away from my first show at the Reading club, Reverb. I found out about the club from someone I met at the Murder Junkies show at Jimmy's Place in Allentown. I believe Reverb is run by Chris from Mushmouth and Frank Phobia. Nice to see a venue of this status run by members of the music scene. Reverb is awesome. Great free parking, an amazing sound system, smartly divided over and under 21 areas, affordable food and drink, clean bathrooms, and bouncers who are cordial, yet act fast and decisive to squash what needs squashing, while letting the pit action work out its own issues when it can. Great venue.

Only saw one song by Bottomfeeder, who are based out of Delaware, but I got to speak to one of the members of the band, after their set, who is from Trenton NJ. We talked briefly about their 7", awesome t-shirt designs (see one of them above) and City Gardens. Bottomfeeder's one track was good enough for me to search out their metallic hardcore on stereokiller. Real driving and punishing music.

Lifeless from New Jersey, slug it out with their instruments with quick paced powerful head bashing tunes that are offset by completely down shifted tempos. They create some scary sounds. I really started to notice how under tattooed I was at this show! Especially on the neck, hands and face! I gotta get with the program!

I had never heard of Lifeless before this show, but they have an LP out on Harvcore, which if it is as good as they were live, I will have to obtain.

Strength For A Reason killed. They seemed to have the largest and most energetic fan-base judging by the pit activity. Lots of karate dancers for most of the night (for all the bands), even though just about every band tried to coerce the crowd to start an old school circle pit.

I was looking forward to seeing Sworn Enemy. Their high energy required that they play their guitars wirelessly. Had they actually had cords plugged in they would have ended up in one big knot at the center of the stage by the end of the first song. Love it when the vocalist channels vintage Raw Power ferocity.

I love Biohazard. I have seen them too many times to count. My old hardcore band Forthright opened for them at Airport Music Hall a couple of decades ago, I wrote an award winning article for the Morning Call from an interview I conducted with Biohazard, interviewed them for my zine FOE back in the day, I saw them with my now deceased friend Digger on many occasions and I believe I saw them with Sheer Terror in Philly. Lots of great memories. This would be my first Biohazard memory without Evan Seinfeld. I am very much looking forward to their new album "Reborn in Defiance", which comes out January 20, 2012 and will be available for free at RevolverMag upon its release. Evan recorded for the album but is not a part of this touring lineup. For more on what Evan is up to, check out this interview in Inked. I had no idea he was divorced and now with Little Lupe!

No worries, if you close your eyes, you'd think Evan was singing and playing with the band! They played a variety of old and new tracks. The crowd, having not heard the new songs listened with judging ears. By the time Biohazard got to the old classic "Punishment" (one of the best songs of all-time, by any band), it seemed like everyone was on board and ready for the next chapter of Biohazard.

There are no clunkers on this record. Considering the Adolescents first LP was released in 1981 (30 years ago) this is quite an amazing achievement, especially when you take into account the Adolescents many career interruptions.

Recognize that the Adolescents debut LP is the standard that all other punk and hardcore bands must be compared to. That said, “Inspiration”, “Wars Aren’t Won, Wars Are Fought”, “Can’t Change the World With A Song”, “No Child Left Behind”, “Serf City” and “Peace Don’t Cost a Thing” prove that the Adolescents measure up on “The Fastest Kid Alive”. They retain the ability to combine hostility, melody and hooks to make a point and do so with some down right enjoyable, skillful, punk music.

Still, if you do not own the Adolescents debut self titled LP you should add “purchase the vinyl version of Adolescents LP” to the “to do list” on whatever app you use to keep track of your modern life. The Adolescents LP is a record you are undoubtedly obligated to own. Once you own that, you are obligated to get this one. I had to drop import priced cash on this, but it was worth it. There is a bit of nostalgia tugging at my heart, proof that the old folks can still hold their own, that we are not alone in growing up decades removed from our adolescent hardcore roots of the 1980s.

Tony Reflex (aka Anthony Brandenburg, Tony Cadena, Tony Montana & Tony Adolescent) still has a great way with words. The tracks on “The Fastest Kid Alive” reflect the world chaos that greets us every morning as we awake from the night’s rest. I treasure this great record.

Sweden produces remarkable bands in an unfailing fashion. Iron Lamb’s Grga Lindstrom gives these 10 tracks a Hellacopters feel with his vocals. Structurally and sonically, this material compiles Motorhead along with Sweden’s Hellacopters & Entombed to produces a heavy, punk rocking blast. Iron Lamb's "The Original Sin" combines the punk edge and vocals of the Hellacopters, the repetitive chugging metallic abuse of a Motorhead riff, rounded out with the thick guitar sound of Entombed.

Bassist Daniel Ekeroth wrote the book Swedish Death Metal (published in 2008), which apparently looks like I need to add to my collection of books.

Other pluses here include a cover of Motorhead’s “Poison” and the song “I Don’t Like You” starts off with a sample from the Warriors movie, which is always a great frame of reference!

FOE ZINE #1 1984

1984 was 27 years ago.

I take a deep breath and repeat, 1984 was 27 years ago. There was a time that I thought I wouldn't live to see 24 years of age and I am now 21 years past 24.

In 1984 I was 18 and had printed the first issue of FOE zine.

I had already been a hardcore DJ since 1982. That would be 29 years ago. Which means I will be celebrating my 30th year in 2012. Back in 1982 we prided ourselves as being "hardcore" not "punk".

In 2009, my long time friend, SS, completed a project I did not want to take on myself. He painstakingly took every issue of FOE and made them into PDFs. They were distributed on a DVD "1984-2009: A 25 Year Retrospective". The limited press run was 50 copies.

I plan on rolling out each issue's PDF here and on www.frankfoe.com over time.

I want to do this one at a time, so that I can put together an introduction and reflect on each issue rather than just providing a dispassionate file transfer.

To put this all in some sort of context, FOE was literally completed using a typewriter, glue, scissors and access to a copy machine and a stapler. We took pictures and took them to the photo developer and got them back a few days later. I remember buying a stencil template to create the F.O.E. on the cover.

Reflections on FOE #1

Scott "Wad" Andrews wanted FOE to be "Angry Young Produce Workers" as most of the Northampton crew not only were DJs at WLVR but also worked in the Produce departments of local supermarkets such as Weis and Food Lane. We were like a revolutionary army of produce workers. Angry Young Produce Workers of America Unite! was our slogan. My produce career ended in 1988, as did most of our produce careers, so I am glad I convinced Wad that FOE was a better name.
The Money Dogs and the punk rock show at the Northampton Band Shell on September 2, 1984 are the focus of issue #1. As I prepared to upload FOE #1, I was finally downloading the Money Dogs "Salute to America" demo. This is a pretty amazing transition when thought about. Completes the circle as I never had the demo prior to today.
My dad printed FOE #1. My dad now proudly takes credit for introducing me to punk rock via the Dead Kennedys and Pork Dukes around 1980-81. Other great influences on my early punk years were WMUH DJ Bob Massey, Mike Mickley (who made me one of my first punk/new wave mix tapes) and Joe Hanna @ Play It Again records. This N That Records (I think that was the name) in Northampton was also a great provider of my punk rock needs.
Johnny Generic stopped a fight at the Northampton show. He was also a DJ on WLVR back then with us Northamptonites. Johnny and I still DJ together as 2/3rds of Up To No Good Radio.
1984 may seem like old school, but realize that CH3 was about to release "Airbourne" and Black Flag was already on "Slip It In" and Flipside was on issue #43.
Some of the people in this issue of FOE #1 are still among my best friends. Paul and Johnny are still in my day to day life.

EyeHateGod – Live @ Jimmy’s Place Allentown PA 12/3/11 Review

Skip called me one day wanting to know if I thought that booking EyeHateGod at Jimmy’s was a good idea. I almost passed out from the possibility! EyeHateGod has been on my must see live list for far too long. I treasure their records. I treasure the deep, dark, chaotic things they do to my mind when I listen to them. They play the kind of music that can take you out of your body, legs firmly attached to the ground yet your spirit is moving. They are an ingenious band that combines feedback, doom, sludge, metal, hardcore and punk into something that is simply stated, EyeHateGod. I could only imagine what they would be like live, in person, in a small venue like Jimmy’s Place.

Skip thankfully booked the show. Not only did he book EyeHateGod, but also filled out the show’s lineup with quality opening bands! I was seriously impressed with Chinga!, Bastard Thieves, Limb By Limb and Buzzherd. I had never seen any of these bands and they all killed in their own way. The diversity and quality of these bands was inspiring. Could the local scene be heading towards another pinnacle?

Chinga! plans to release their debut CD, “Relentless Culinary Assault” in March of 2012 on Born of Chaos Records. Chinga! Play straightforward powerful metal that incorporates elements of black metal, hardcore and doom.

Bastard Thieves incorporate elements of black metal but bump the effect up by also mixing in a heady, atmospheric and moody style that transitions well into the thrash attack. The facial expressions and body contortions of the guitarist/vocalist must be witnessed. Bastard Thieves is a very entertaining and talented band.

Limb By Limb is a belligerent, confrontational, dangerous metalcore style that brings to mind elements of Pantera and Hatebreed. They had CDs at the show that captures their sound very well.

Buzzherd is an impressively sick band. The vocalist reminds me of Blaine from the Accused, both with the voice and the hair. Buzzherd was a perfect way to coil up the energy before EyeHateGod.

Mike IX Williams appears to be one of the coolest front men around. His trademark vocals for EyeHateGod are a pure demonic delight over Brian Patton & Jimmy Bower’s guitar heroics. Guitars tuned down, sonic imbalance, feedback, drums and bass driving the perfect sludge and shifting into precision thrash. The crowd’s reaction was pure mayhem. People were flying everywhere, the stage was crowded, the mass of the crowd almost seemed like they were battling the soundwaves that were trying to blow them away, like trying to stand still as the ocean tries to beat you back to the beach. The security kind of took a step back and let it happen, in a “these kids are nuts” reaction. The collective sweat of the club could have changed a desert into a rain forest. This was one of the rawest, purely emotional, unified crowd reactions I have ever seen. The first time I was part of this type of energy was witnessing YDI back in the early 80s. EyeHateGod brought back those kinds of memories. This EyeHateGod show was pure mayhem. For those who possess a mind like mine, this was unadulterated joy.

This was also one of those shows where you knew most of the people there were on a certain level of understanding. I met many interesting new people. EyeHateGod at Jimmy’s Place in Allentown was a friendly atmosphere! I chatted with some people I never met before, some from nearby scenes like Reading (Ally got up and sung while Mike took a break during one song) and some people from New Jersey. I caught up with people I have not seen in years. These types of connections made the show enjoyable on a whole other level.

Thank you to Skip for booking this show. You outdid yourself on this one sir! Thank you to EyeHateGod for taking the chance of playing Allentown (come back again real soon)! I think EyeHateGod was in as much awe as we were of just how fantastic and special an experience this was. Thank you to everyone who supported this show and held nothing back. I want to thank Brian Patton for being one of the coolest guitarists I have ever met. EyeHateGod are humble. You can tell they are one of us. They appreciated the love the crowd gave back to them. I wish I had brought a better camera to this show, but I will have the memories for a lifetime.

I have had the pleasure of knowing front man Jody from the Wally’s days of Bethlehem PA when his band (Atom West & later Endzone) and my band (Forthright) played shows together. This was the late 80s if my memory serves me correctly. Jody’s current band, Damn Dirty Apes has been cultivating a strong local following and this thirteen song CD (about a half hour) documents their powerful sound perfectly.

“Apes of Wrath” is crunching and engaging music that interlocks the same punk, metal and hardcore influences as Big 4 legend Anthrax does. Melding hooks and punishment, you will find yourself raging along with the thrashing music, banging your head along when they reel the tempo back under control and laughing and singing along with the obscenity laden choruses. As the years have added to Jody’s and the rest of the band’s resume, they have not lost anything to the decades. Unlike a professional athlete who loses a bit of their edge as they head into their 40s, the Damn Dirty Apes remain solid. Stacy, Andy and Erik are masters of their instruments; equal to the quality of Jody’s master of ceremonies skills, an unyielding front man.

These characters dedicate themselves to their craft and their fans are committed. The Damn Dirty Apes were winners at the 13^th Lehigh Valley Music Awards show in the category for Best Live Punk Performance. If there were a music award for most scantily clad female fans, the Damn Dirty Apes would also win that award. "The Apes of Wrath" is worth your time and money. You will also have a blast seeing them live!

Gods and Queens Tour Bus Flips

This is a re-post from Jamie Getz, someone I admire tremendously, who has ties to my home scene of the Lehigh Valley PA. His band Gods and Queens is currently in Europe touring and I know this is going to sound like one of those scam letters from Africa but here goes:

I´m going to try and make this as short as I can. After all these years of touring in unsafe vans, and doing stupid things, I guess I was over due for this... We had a serious van accident in route from our show in Graz, Austria to Dresden, Germany, somewhere along the highway in the Czech.

I was asleep in the back of the van, so I'm unsure of what exactly happened. All I know is I felt the van skidding out and we started to slide and roll over. Not sure exactly how many times the van flipped but it was more than enough. I started screaming for everyone to tell me they were OK. Gertjan check, Ben check, Sara check, and I didn't hear Jeff.

Ben pulled me out through the windshield and I took off running, screaming for help with blood pouring down my face. I honestly though Jeff was dead. A car stopped and a slew of women started screaming at me and I was screaming at them. We were in the middle of no where and as I was running two things came to mind, I think Jeff is dead, and I hope I don´t get shot like Artimus Pyle. A woman pulled me into her house and her husband and son ran to the van crash site. I found Gertjan, and he said everyone is OK. The family started talking to me via Google Translation telling me everyone is safe and that an ambulance is on the way.

The ambulance comes, takes us to a hospital, we get taken care of...sort of. The police arrive on the scene and inform us that we aren´t leaving until the medical bills are paid in full. They were kind enough to escort Sara and myself to an ATM machine to pay the entire lump of the bills in full on the spot. Even after we signed some strange papers saying we have 30 day with proof of citizenship, etc. What the f*!@ ever right? We asked where Gertjan was, and their response was...prison. 300 phone calls and around €3,000 later we are out of the damned Czech and safe in Germany.

Long short, we are all somewhat OK. Jeff broke his collarbone, Ben got his hand jacked up, I am pretty alright, Gertjan is OK, as well as Sara. The van is destroyed. Booking these tours our self really made me realize that we are 100% on our own. We had no one to call, no one to "rescue" us. I made 3 phone calls and the entire German punk scene came to our rescue. God damn thank you. Our new friends from Dresden Germany came to get us at the drop of a hat, no questions asked. Thank you.

So here it is, we are 3 grown adult males in our 30´s who play in a punk band. We are all stage hands at R5 Productions in Philly. That's what we do to enable us to be here in Europe doing this. Hank 3 Live @ Crocodile Rock Cafe, Allentown PA 11/23/11

I must admit, I am a late arrival. Yes, Superjoint Ritual is one of my favorite metal projects. I didn't realize Hank 3 played bass in Superjoint Ritual. Silly me. Yes I love original country music. I've had the privilege of seeing great concerts by George Jones, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn etc... Obviously I love punk, metal and country (among other genres). Why wouldn't I be neck deep in Hank 3 by now? Well, all things happen for a reason and Thanksgiving Eve 2011 I witnessed all that is Hank 3 live for the first time and I am undeniably hooked.

There are so many levels to enjoy Hank 3. Musically, historically, imagery, attitude, his connection with the fans, his altruism, sincerity, ability to connect to people from different backgrounds and his limitless talent. Undoubtedly, one of the coolest people on the planet.

Hank 3 was on stage for 4 hours. I do not know how he physically does this. He is thin of frame, but is obviously powerful and motivated, physically and mentally. Focused and in tune with his objective. This is not one of those country sets where the crowd sits in their chairs all night. The first two hours Hank 3 performed country that ranged from tribal sounding to vintage original country and as Hellbilly, where he combines a countrified rockabilly sound that is also punk and metal in it's own way. During the music, I imagined a scene where the complete band is playing outdoors, around a huge fire in the remote darkness, the music building the surrounding tribe of misfits to hysteria, without the use of chemicals, drugs or liquor (although I am sure others had imagery that included all of those, but really, the music created this effect, no substances required). This description fits all of the styles Hank 3 incorporates. Ever hear of country that rages? Here it is.

Whether you love Pantera, Butthole Surfers, Johnny Cash, Misfits, Black Flag, Stray Cats, Slayer, EyeHateGod, Rob Zombie or the Dead Kennedys, you would have an unbelievable time at a Hank 3 concert. I happen to love all of those influences and I would imagine Hank 3 does too.

The third hour of the set included Attention Deficit Domination, a doom metal, stoner project that literally blew me away. More than half of the crowd escaped the confines of Crocodile Rock after the first two hours. I am sure the paying customers had a wonderful time and got their money worth. I personally had know idea this was going to kill the way it did. As the fiddle player, stand up bass player, guitarist and slide guitarist left the stage, Hank 3 switched from acoustic to electric guitar and the drummer remained. Videos played on the screen behind the drummer and the metal began. The grooves brought to mind the best of the stoner genre, vintage Black Sabbath, St. Vitus and got the small, but aggressive pit moving. I was glad that the crowd diminished, because the intimacy that was created, brought that ritualistic, mesmerizing feeling to a peak. I was lost in the music. ADD brought those uncontrollable smiles to my face, just as Hank 3's first two hours did. I was having the time of my life for three straight hours.

The final hour was 3 Bar Ranch, where Hank was joined by another guitarist and a different drummer who was fully capable of providing the necessary blast beats and thrash attack. The vocals are provided by cattle auctioneers. Crazy. That is all I can say. Three hours and 45 minutes into the night, Hank 3 finally won. I was a beaten man.

One of the best concerts I have ever witnessed.

I was 16. It was 1982. Fear's "The Record" was one of those records that changed my life. Fear, headed up by Lee Ving of Philadelphia, changed lives. The Saturday Night Live performance is legendary. "The Record" is a legendary, must own record. Also released in 1982 was the 7" "F*ck Christmas". We loved playing that on the radio back in the early 80s (we still do like playing it every Christmas). The b-side was the "clean" version with the f-bombs already beeped out for you. Wow. Blew my 16 year old mind! How to top that legendary 7"? Go the other way. Seriously. Lee Ving has recorded "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" with a straight face, slight guitar accompaniment and harmonica. You can play this unedited on the radio. Perfect. The b-side is "Another Christmas Beer", from the album "American Beer". That is your fix of Lee's nasty take on the holiday! There were only 700 pressed and released on Record Store Day 11/25/11. Those of you who didn't score the 7", head on over to iTunes and purchase a digital download. Fear is supposed to tour in 2012 and release a re-recorded version of "The Record". All I want for Christmas is for the Fear tour to play Allentown PA!

In case you are like me and didn't know what "lenticular" means... Lenticular printing is a technology in which a lenticular lens is used to produce images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. Examples of lenticular printing include prizes given in Cracker Jack snack boxes that showed flip and animation effects such as winking eyes, and modern advertising graphics that change their message depending on the viewing angle. This technology was created in the 1940s but has evolved in recent years to show more motion and increased depth. Originally used mostly in novelty items and commonly called "wiggle pictures," lenticular prints are now being used as a marketing tool to show products in motion. Two of my favorite death metal related bands are Entombed and Celtic Frost. Entombed's "Clandestine" and "Left Hand Path" remain two of my favorite LPs of all time. Great pummeling sound, gruff vocals and an energy that incites. Celtic Frost, while more dramatic that Entombed, had a way of creating horrific visions through their music. Both had a great guitar lead sound. I have not heard a band combine the early sounds of Entombed and Celtic Frost as well as Sweden's Bastard Priest. You would do well to check out Entombed, Celtic Frost and Bastard Priest.

Anti Nowhere League "Live in the USA" DTS Records

The Anti Nowhere League debut LP "We Are... The League" is one of those records that will live on forever with me. It is a part of me. I was 16 in 1982 when "We Are... The League" was released and it was one of a few dozen records that came out in the early 80s that forever changed my life.

This live CD/mp3 album documents the band's visit to the Lehigh Valley PA, when they played Allentown in 2008. If you never bought the debut LP or have been living under a rock and haven't heard Metallica so inappropriately cover Anti Nowhere League's "So What?", you need to get with it and obtain those recordings first in order to better appreciate the live record.

If you are a fan of the Anti Nowhere League, then you know what to expect and know you will enjoy reliving those glory days here. This live recording captures an hour of the band's raucous sound. Lots of classics mixed in with some newer material in a cohesive enjoyable package. Wish this was available on vinyl, but for now, you'll have to check out amazon ($7.99 isn't such a bad deal for 20 songs) or any of the other online sources. The album captures Animal's talents as one of punk rock's legendary front-men and leaves the listener wishing the band was playing Allentown again real soon!

My man Skip has outdone himself on this one! EYEHATEGOD has long been one of my favorite bands. Johnny Generic hates it when I play EYEHATEGOD on the Up To No Good Radio show because he thinks he'll end up going to hell even faster than he already is travelling!

The Murder Junkies show was my introduction to Skip's newest venue, Jimmy's Place in Allentown. That show was fantastic. This will be unbelievable!

The Murder Junkies killed it at Jimmy's Place in Allentown PA on October 21, 2011. Touring in support of their new LP "Road Killer" on MVD Audio, the band came out and riled up the crowd with their deviant and obnoxious brand of punk rock.

Kicking things off with the song "Once A Whore" which is also the first song off of the new LP, they won over even the most jaded of punk rockers. Anyone who has known a whore immediately started singing along to the addictive chorus. This song is reason enough to seek out the vinyl or cd or digital download of "Road Killer". Vocalist PP Duvay had the crowd singing along, mimicking his guttural vocals, "Once a whore always a whore, I want to hurt you, I want to kill you".

Dino gave fair warning before stripping completely down to his birthday suit, to climb on Pete Nostalgia Crisis' drum kit to keep the manic beat. Luckily, I was otherwise occupied during the post Murder Junkies set of Dino's solo act/exhibition. After the set was complete, Dino did a drum solo and then made a pair of drumsticks meet their unfortunate demise. After the disappearing act, the drumsticks ended up in the parking lot in the back of the club, where hopefully no one picked them up for a souvenir.

GG Allin's legendary brother Merle kept all entertained with his bass playing and mere presence throughout the night. He was amazed that there were people in the crowd (namely Up To No Good Radio DJ Johnny Generic) older than he!

Guitarist Francis Anthony Superstar, who I have been friends with for decades, who now goes by Sonny Joe Harlan, killed on guitar. I witnessed local legend Larry gushing over how great a guitarist he was. I let Francis know Larry was in YouthQuake, as Francis, err Sonny Joe is well versed in Lehigh Valley punk rock. Francis gushed back as I knew he was a fan of the legendary Lehigh Valley band YouthQuake!

The Murder Junkies gave their fans all the time they wanted, posing for photos and signing autographs. This was one of the best punk rock shows I can remember coming to the Lehigh Valley in a very long time! Thanks to all who showed up and had a very up to no good evening!

Got to see Cavalera Conspiracy at Croc Rock in Allentown PA last night (Oct 20, 2011). Nice to see them rip through all of the Cavalera Conspiracy tracks PLUS some ancient Sepultura tracks. Not many people were in attendance. The venue did their best to keep the show moving. I got there around 9:00 PM and Earth Crisis and Otep had already played!

My favorite moments of the show were these 4 high school aged young ladies tearing up the mosh pit among the larger aggro monster men in the pit. What a contrast. These girls were ripping it up having a blast (fun), while it looked like many of the men in the pit definitely had the warrior gene (you have to see National Geographic's special on this with Henry Rollins) and were there with no fun intended.

Thank you Cavalera Conspiracy for playing Allentown PA! The Sepultura tracks made me fondly remember seeing Sepultura so many many many years ago at the Trocadero in Philadelphia PA.
