Halshug "Blodets Band"

Blodets Bånd
Southern Lord
Released: February 24, 2015

Halshug translates to "Decapitate" in English.

Halshug is from Copenhagen Denmark.

Halshug takes me back to a time when I would send US $ in an envelope to places like Sweden to obtain 7" eps by bands like Asocial, Crude SS, DTAL, Mob47, Rattus, Kaaos, Lärm, Terveet Kädet and Anti-Cimex. The 1980s were a fantastic time to send money in an envelope around the world and wait for records to show up in your PO Box.

Today, you would call Halshug a d-beat hardcore crust punk band. Halshug probably wasn't born in the 1980s but they sure sound like they were teenagers, just like me, in the 1980s.

Check out Halshug's "Dödskontrol" ep from 2013 for free on their bandcamp page:

Most of the eight songs (18 minutes) go by in a d-beat fury. "Knæl" is a total hardcore punk masterpiece. Wonderful chemicals are released in my brain when I listen to "Blodets Bånd" but "Knæl" sends me completely over the top.

Thank you Halshug and thanks again Southern Lord (this label is putting out non-stop amazing releases).

Give Halshug's "Blodets Bånd" a listen!
