When I create the Up To No Good Radio Approved Events listing, there are shows that I would like to go to and then there are shows I HAVE to go to. This was indeed one that I had to attend!
This was my first gig at Philadelphia's Kung Fu Necktie. $2 beer specials (for my Up To No Good fellow DJ - Reds) and $1 bottled water (for the rest of us) made the drinking easy. Street parking was readily available. The small bar held the 70-100 people almost perfectly. The only minus, my wife was extremely disgusted with the "ladies" room.
I was looking forward to witnessing Black Hole Records executives perform in their Christmas punk band Missile Toads for my first time live.
If you haven't heard "Santa's A Boozer", done to the tune of the Dead Boys' "Sonic Reducer", or "Reindeer In The Night", done to the tune of Blitz's "Razors in the Night" you need to get with the program!
Next up was my first live introduction to Philadelphia's Doomed to Obscurity.

Revilers, debut LP (reviewed here) is undoubtedly one of my favorite punk releases of 2012. Refreshing, strong and pointed (blunt) are words I would use to describe Revilers. The record is a split release among Black Hole / Patac / 4subculture / Contra Records.

Dave who provides the pounding beats for Revilers offered up this advice about listening to Up To No Good Radio. As we were chatting outside the Kung Fu Necktie, the rest of his band noticed how the sweat he produced from rocking the beats left an obscene residual visual on his pants, resulting in the following ID for Up To No Good Radio.
Revilers
Got to talk to Andy of Revilers outside the Kung Fu Necktie and found out he was in a few bands and our paths had to have crossed at some point, as one of his previous bands played Scarlet's in Bethlehem PA. He was kind enough to do this ID for Up To No Good Radio. We talked straight edge, hardcore, Youth of Today, 7 Seconds, Uniform Choice and East Coast contrasted with West Coast.
Revilers
Committed to the cause? Yes, there is a Revilers tattoo on the back of that skull!!!
Freddy Pompeii
I have been freakishly blessed this year, seeing bands that I never would have thought I'd get to see in my lifetime, never mind in 2012. Cock Sparrer, Cockney Rejects, Corrosion of Conformity ("Animosity" era lineup - well, I actually have seen this lineup about a dozen times during the "Animosity" era, but was glad to see it again) and at this gig, Freddy Pompeii of the Viletones and U.S. Chaos.
Freddy Pompeii of the Viletones
Sure, Nazi Dog is not singing with this band, but getting to hear the Viletones tracks live, with excessively loud guitar, played by the original guitarist (Freddy Pompeii) was a privilege I will never forget.
Freddy Pompeii of the Viletones
Joey Jap handled the vocal duties with ease, treating classic tracks like "Screaming Fist" as if it were the late 70s and this was the beginning of something great, rather than 35 years later. So many bands today go through the motions, leaving the impression that their performance is just the same old rehashed, soiled and tired ideas. Freddy Pompeii of the Viletones is fresh in 2012!
Freddy Pompeii of the Viletones
Dave was the original drummer of Negative FX. What a brilliant surprise addition to the evening's memories. Negative FX is another band I never got to see live. Negative FX had great influence on me. Dave was kind enough to provide Up To No Good Radio this ID. Dave also provided this ID as the drummer for both Freddy Pompeii of the Viletones and Negative FX.

U.S. Chaos is a legendary, early 80s hardcore punk band from New Jersey. If you don't know them, you need to become acquainted with this part of your punk rock history. Another treat tonight, was that Rene of Blanks77, who is also the younger sister of deceased U.S. Chaos guitarist Gary Reitmeyer, was ripping it up on guitar with U.S. Chaos.

Pretty sure Reds knows every lyric to every U.S. Chaos song. $2 Schaefer beers didn't hurt his memory!
U.S. Chaos
Skully even sang the theme song, "Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one!"

This curfew show ended far too early for me. I really wanted to see U.S. Chaos play "American". Sadly, no encore. Hopefully I don't have to wait until I'm 70 to see U.S. Chaos again. Maybe we can get them to the Lehigh Valley.
Up To No Good Reds finally got to see U.S. Chaos!!!
