Eddie Spaghetti fronts the Supersuckers. 

The sticker on the LP states that Eddie is “¼ of the Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the World”. I’m not going there, but The Supersuckers are one of my favorite bands. I love every record The Supersuckers ever released... and there are a lot of them. They are one of the greatest.

“The Value of Nothing” is Eddie’s fourth solo record.

The time away from the Supersuckers gives Eddie the opportunity to ramp up the percentage of country influence. Where the Supersuckers are 69% rock, 21% punk and 10% country, Eddie’s solo material is 69% country, 21% punk and 10% rock.

The punk rocker in me loves the songs like “F*$&ing With My Head”, “People are Sh*t”, “If Anyone’s Got the Balls” and “Waste of Time”. These are also my favorite type of country songs. They come from the same begrimed barrooms… punk rock or country redneck bars... the clientele may dress differently but the heart has roots in the same earth.

There are some more straight up country songs, that Eddie handles with a natural ease that possess the necessary inviting country hospitality… his style welcomes you in… like a barstool that seemingly has your name on it… 

If you understand why someone can love Johnny Cash, Mike Ness, The Supersuckers, Rancid and Hank III and understand why these are some of my favorite listens, you must own “The Value of Nothing”.

Black Flag in 2013? Yes there is this Black Flag and Flag touring in 2013, both performing Black Flag songs. I'm not picking sides. I don't care. I've been lucky enough to see Black Flag many times in my life. Not sure how anyone can say one version of this isn't Black Flag or not... when by the time Rollins got around to joining the band Keith, Ron and Dez had already done time on the mike... Does that mean "Black Flag" with Rollins was a cover band and was somehow irrelevant? Whatever. Lighten up and have a good time. This version of Black Flag does in fact have the sole continual member of Black Flag, Greg Ginn.

June 17, 2013 was special for me as I turned 47 that day. I also got to see Black Flag at the Union Transfer in Philly. A tremendous birthday present. I know I had a blast! A very fun night that I will remember for the rest of my life, in a positive way! 

Hearing so many hardcore classics: "Nervous Breakdown", "Rise Above", "Can't Decide", "Depression", "TV Party", "Gimme Gimme Gimme", "Police Story", "Six Pack", "Black Coffee" etc... was pure joy. 

Black Flag influenced me tremendously in the early 80s. It was an honor to witness Black Flag in 2013.

“Earth Rocker” is Clutch’s tenth studio record.

I first heard the title track “Earth Rocker” on Liquid Metal (Sirius XM) and seriously, I still cannot get this song out of my head. The riff, the lyrics and the style is caught in an infinite loop in my head.

Clutch states that recent opening dates for Motorhead and Thin Lizzy had a great influence on “Earth Rocker”. The truth is in the word influence. Clutch has certainly been around long enough and knows what to do with an influence. Some bands come off sounding just like another band… that is more of a copy than an influence. Clutch tells you they are influenced by Motorhead and Thin Lizzy and you take a moment and think to yourself, yes I can see that… but I just thought Clutch was rocking out like rocking out Clutch. My initial thought is that Clutch is influenced by old Clutch and old Monster Magnet on “Earth Rocker”.

I have been a fan of Clutch for quite some time, but this album has the power to make me go back and listen to those first nine studio albums in a new light. “Earth Rocker” has brought Clutch to a new level. The eleven tracks all stand individually and flow together as a classic album.

I am anxious to go back in the Clutch catalog and give the old records the rediscovery treatment. “Earth Rocker” is that strong an album that I think I will appreciate the older material even more and I am sure new Clutch fans will start digging in the past.

Not only is "Earth Rocker" an excellent album, but this whole package is just cool. Nice artwork on the gatefold vinyl LP. Love it.

No, this is not the place to read up on The Tom Green Show, "Endangered Feces - the Very Worst of Tom Green", although I have a feeling if you like one, you'll like the other.

Yes, Endangered Feces are a “four man scatalogical punk band from Queens, New York City...”

Yes, I questioned the necessity of a “four man scatological punk band from anywhere”.

Yes, they are pants down around the ankles, sitting on toilets on a public street on their CD cover.

Yes, they sound like a cross between speedy NoFx punk rock and early days, rough around the edges Howard Stern potty humor.

Yes, the fourteen songs actually rip through in about ten and a half minutes.

Yes, the following is a nearly two minute video for a song that is only 28 seconds on the CD.

Yes, I've caught myself humming/singing along to these ridiculous tracks in the last week just like the guy in the video.

Yes, I think Dave Phlegmball and Endangered Feces should tour together. After all, there’s nothing like “Cheap Beer” to go along with your whisky sh*ts.
