HAVOK
“Unnatural
Selection”
Released:
June 25, 2013
Denver Colorado’s HAVOK end the song “Give Me Liberty… or Give
Me Death” with the Thomas Jefferson quote:
“When the
people fear the government, there is tyranny.
When the
government fears the people, there is liberty.”
The entirety of “Unnatural Selection” is bursting with a
similar ferocity to the lead single, “Give Me Liberty…” that compliments their musicality,
attitude and anger. Much like vintage Megadeth, HAVOK combines a yesteryear punk rock anger with a thrash metal attack typical of the genre’s
zenith.
While vintage Megadeth is the starting point, HAVOK remain at
the forefront of the current thrash metal genre with a fresh and talented approach. They out Megadeth, Megadeth. Slot
HAVOK right alongside Anthrax, Overkill, Kreator and Testament.
The musicality of HAVOK is technical, yet enjoyable. The drums
run like a high end, precision watch, keeping perfect beat for the raging and
creative guitar work. HAVOK is guitarist/vocalist David Sanchez, bassist Mike
Leon, guitarist Reece Scruggs, and drummer Pete Webber and they all rule on “Unnatural
Selection”.
Nice cover of Black Sabbath's "Children of the Grave".
Cheers,
