Missile Toads
“Xmas Punx Brew”
Black Hole Records
The concept on “Xmas Punx Brew” is to cover
legendary punk rock songs, changing the lyrics to Christmas themed anarchy.
Example: Plasmatics “Monkey Suit” is now “Santa
Suit”. Black Flag’s “TV Party” is now “Christmas Party Tonight”. Sham 69 "If The Kids Are United" is now "If the Elves Are United'. Simple concept
that could end up an ugly mess, thankfully this is fantastic!
I personally know some of the members of this
band and I will vouch that they have the old school Philly punk rock
credibility to be allowed to pull this off. The twenty tracks here are all
fantastic. Missile Toads have the musical chops to honestly pay tribute to the
originals with their cover versions. The altered holiday lyrics leave me with a
big smile on my face.
To top things off, the fine folks in the band
and Black Hole Records are willing to provide this as a Christmas gift to you.
Head on over to the Band Camp link and download it for free. As the band says, “You
can of course contribute a few clams if you like the music. This is a good way
to get on Santa's nice list and let’s face it you need all the help you can
get!”
Aside from the pure joy the songs bring, you’ll
have fun testing your punk rock knowledge by identifying the songs the Missile
Toads are giving the Weird Al treatment to!
The Missile Toads have two live shows set up
for the holidays in 2013. Head on out!
Sat 12/14 @ El Bar in Philly
Sat 12/21 Le Grande Fromage in Atlantic City.
Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Can't wait to give this a listen. It sounds sort of like the Angry Snowmans from Vancouver, and their approach to Xmas music.
